Zero Ticket is a guide to free places to visit around the world. It is available as a website at zeroticket.world and as an Android app (together, “Zero Ticket”).

The short version

  • You can use Zero Ticket without an account, and without giving us your name or email.
  • If you choose to share photos, report a change or tell us a place is still free, we keep what you send so we can review it. Your name and email are optional.
  • If you use Nearby, your location is used only to find places close to you. We don’t store it.
  • Your saved places stay on your own device.
  • We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use advertising trackers.
  • You can ask us to delete anything you’ve sent us by emailing snplay.group@gmail.com

What we collect and why

When you share photos of a place

  • Your photos. We review every photo before it appears. Approved photos are published on the place’s page with a credit. Rejected photos are deleted.
  • Your name (optional). Used only for the photo credit. If you leave it blank, the credit reads “a Zero Ticket traveler”.
  • Your email (optional). Used only to tell you when your photos are live. We delete it once your photos have been reviewed. We never show it publicly or use it for marketing.
  • By sharing photos, you confirm you took them and allow Zero Ticket to publish them with credit. You can ask us to remove them at any time.

When you report a change or answer “Still free?”

  • We keep what you tell us (for example, new opening hours) and an optional name, so a moderator can check it. Your answer to “Still free?” updates the date a place was last checked.

To stop spam and abuse

  • To limit how many contributions can be sent each day, and to count one “Still free?” answer per person per place, we create a one-way, scrambled code from your connection details (such as your IP address and browser type). We don’t store your IP address itself, and the code can’t be turned back into it. These codes are deleted automatically, after one day for daily limits and after 30 days for “Still free?” answers.

When you search or browse

  • Searches and pages you view are used to show you results. We don’t keep a history of what you search for or link it to you.
  • Like almost every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, page requested and time) for security and to keep the site running. These are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you.

Your location

The Nearby feature asks for your location only when you choose to use it. Your phone or browser asks your permission first, and you can say no and browse by city instead. Your location is sent to our server only to find the closest free places, and it is not stored or shared. You can turn location access off at any time in your phone or browser settings.

What stays on your device

  • Saved places are kept only on your phone (in the app) or in your browser (on the website). We never receive your list. Uninstalling the app or clearing your browser data deletes it.
  • The app keeps a copy of pages you’ve opened so they still work offline. This also stays on your phone.
  • The website uses only the cookies WordPress needs to work. Visitors don’t need to log in, so there are no account cookies.

Other services

Some parts of Zero Ticket rely on other services, which have their own privacy policies:

  • Map tiles on the website are loaded from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address when the map loads.
  • Some place photos come from Wikimedia Commons, with credit to their authors.
  • Directions open in Google Maps or your phone’s maps app, under that app’s privacy policy.
  • [Analytics]: we use Google Analytics to count visits in aggregate.
  • Our hosting provider stores the website and its data.

We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers.

Security

All information between your device and Zero Ticket is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Only Zero Ticket’s moderators can see contributions waiting for review. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you send us.

Children

Zero Ticket is for a general audience and is not directed at children. Photo sharing and reports are meant for adults. If you’re under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before sending us anything. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you,
  • correct it,
  • delete it, including photos you shared, or
  • withdraw your permission to publish your photos.

Email snplay.group@gmail.com and tell us roughly what you sent and when (for example, the place and the name you used). We’ll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, laws such as India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the EU and UK GDPR, or Californian privacy law may give you further rights. If you’re unhappy with our reply, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. For important changes, we’ll also show a notice on the website and in the app.
